We were Up In The Past. Now we’re staying there.
For years, Up In The Past has been about the feeling — the VHS fuzz, the mall lights, the mixtape you made in ’94 that you still have. You know the feeling. That’s why you’re here.
Now we’re digging deeper.
We’re officially launching our new direction: NEVER OUT OF STYLE.
Same name. New mission. We aren’t just remembering the past anymore — we’re investigating it.
Why did certain shows, toys, stores, and styles stick forever while others vanished? What was the business behind the culture you loved? What memories could only happen at a certain hour, on a certain channel, in a certain decade?
That’s what Never Out Of Style is about.
To do that, we’re launching new original shows for UpInThePast.com and our YouTube channel:
1. THE MIDNIGHT CHANNEL
TV, movies, and memories you could only make at night.
This is the weird, wonderful stuff you only found after 11pm. Local access horror hosts. UHF static. Late-night commercials for things that probably didn’t exist. The movies your parents didn’t know you were watching. The shows that felt like a secret.
If you remember staying up too late and seeing something you couldn’t explain the next day at school — The Midnight Channel is for you.
Premieres with video essays, tape transfers, and full commercial breaks restored.
2. THE VAULT FILES
Where pop culture meets the business of the past.
Every toy, cereal, video store, and Saturday morning cartoon was a business decision. Sometimes a brilliant one. Sometimes a disaster.
The Vault Files cracks open the vault — the marketing memos, the failed products, the store that was in every mall and then disappeared overnight, the billion-dollar idea that started on a napkin.
We mix nostalgia with the real numbers. What did it cost? Who got rich? Who got burned? Why does it still matter?
If you love “how did they get away with that?” — this is your show.
AND MORE COMING.
Never Out Of Style is just the beginning. We’re building a full archive you can browse by era, with more video than ever, and stories that go longer than a clip.
Our new look — that neon sunset, the grid that never ends, that pink-and-cyan glow — is exactly what it feels like at 12:17am when you find the tape you thought was gone.
We’re Up In The Past. We always will be.
But now, we’re proving why it was Never Out Of Style.
